SPRING

By the middle of February Spring is on its way. The days are longer and appreciably warmer allowing us to sit in the garden and enjoy our lunch in the spring sunshine.

After the snowdrops which always put in such an early appearance, come the primroses and wild daffodils.

Mid-April and wild flowers abound with violets, bluebells, cowslips and celandine amongst others joining the primroses.

In March the Haras du Pin National Stud held a display of its horses. Normandy Cob, Thoroughbred and Percharon stallions were shown in hand. While others demonstrated their undoubted ability in dressage, jumping or driving.

Despite a cold day, there was a large crowd to enjoy the spectacle, which ended with a wonderful carriage procession.

The cherry trees in the garden which are always the first to bloom, are a now a mass of snowy white blossom .
