There is always a fête or something special going on, so these are just a few highlights:

March

Faire au Boudin (Black Pudding Fair) held at Mortagne-au-Perche. Over 500 entrants, top producers from all over France and Europe come each year for the competition which includes many other activities.

June to September

Musilumieres, light and music show at the cathedral at Sées

Les Jeudis du Pin, visits and displays in the main courtyard at the National Stud at Haras du Pin

August

La Fête de la Chasse et de la Péche, hunting, shooting and fishing festival at Carrouges Château

September

Automne Gourmand, autumn food festival held at Bagnoles-de-l'Orne. A chance to sample the gastronomy of the region with gourmet workshops, tasting sessions and other special events

Septembre Musical de l'Orne is a three week classical music festival, attended by both established performers and younger rising talent. The events are held at historic venues throughout the area

Lisieux Blues Festival spills over into large areas of Lower Normandy from big bands playing in Argentan to quartets in Honfleur

Two race meetings at La Bergerie are held on the last two Sundays of the month

October

Final Grand Steeple-Chase de Pins is held at La Bergerie on the 3rd Sunday in October

November/December

Christmas markets are held throughout the region from mid-November onwards. Caen has many delightful stalls in the centre during the month of December.

Apple Fair at Vimoutiers
Cider Festival at Le Saps
Tree and Cider Day at St-Cyr-La-Rosière
Marché Gourmand in Falaise which is a chance to sample and purchase local delicacies

Falaise also hosts The Festival of the Apple and Pumpkin. The Festival of Games & Theatre, The Music Festival, The Festival of Dance and the Winter Festival

July

Bastille Day celebrations in Putanges last all day and end with a spectacular firework display across the river late in the evening

Bayeux holds a 2 day Medieval Festival with an entire medieval village in Place du Gaulle
